My name is Nicolas Botez, Im British born, but not bred. I have been painting now for some 38 years, only abstract, but recently, have moved into Abstract Acrylic 3D art form. You see most paintings today are all flat. I hate being one of the rest, I need to be different, shock the user, he/she will remember me better that way. My art has depth, what I mean is it has undulations, highways crisscrossing the art works, as well as some very curvaceous areas.

There is another painting called Blue Camelion, it’s not Acrylic at all, however every time I take it to an Art Gallery, the people cannot keep their hands off of it. You see the weridity of the art work, is that if you do not like the present design, pass your hand over the art work twice and you can redesign the art work to your design. Its not electricity powered.

My paintings have been sold previously in Switzerland, Spain and USA.

All art works come with a certificate of authenticity and are copyright registered.

1.) What elements and/or characteristics made you say to yourself that you wanted to be a professional artist for a living?

I believe you should try many things in life. Over 30 years ago I want to do art, in fact I studied commercial art in University but my mum, had other ideas, so I left, went into business instead. Now that she has Alzheimers , I do not think she will mind if I try and dable in the arts again.

Who are your influences/heroes/role models?

I have none. I’m self taught and I try not to copy anyone.

2.) If you could compare yourself to an already established entrepreneur, who would that be and why?

I cannot as, I have said previously I do not like to copy anyone. I walk down my own road, to destruction or success.

If you don’t like to compare yourself, then what separates you from other entrepreneurs out there?

I think it’s because I have a sense of humor, in business. I use humor in all my businesses. It does not matter if it’s a simple person or a monarch. I have lightened up the room with my humor.

3.) Everyone in life goes through adversity of some sort. What is the most difficult thing you’ve had to endure on your path to becoming a successful entrepreneur?

Have you ever had such a strong conviction that you went into abject poverty for that cause? I have. I know how it feels to be hungry and very afraid. You see my business was not owned by me but my mother and with her Alzheimers, Alzheimers destroyed everything. I mean everything. My sisters washed there hands of me and our mother. What was I going to do abandon her like my sisters did? I have kept us a float, by a miracle and many good and generous friends, as we had nothing. I lost everything in this world, sometimes I just felt like jumping out of the world. I think I have gone into this art work thing a little blindly in a hope to raise money to help pay for the destruction which is Alzheimer, something that has caused my family a great deal of suffering.

4.) How do you motivate yourself to get up and grind?

I like thinking of the next big idea. Here in Bahrain, I have the liberty to invent. I have invented and had made many new products. I just need to take the big step forwards.

What is your process? Work from bed. Hahahahahaha, no just kidding! I do work from home most of the time. I have a chair and table.

5.) Unfortunately the entertainment industry is full of talented individuals who more or less become the “starving artist” and don’t get any recognition for their talent and/or work. How do you help an up and coming artist stand out and get noticed?

Actually I’m glad you brought this up. I have gone step further, than your question above. As you know in Europe we have an immigration issue? We have opened a new website, which runs for free. Its for all the artists, who are unloved and unwanted, its totally free, we are hoping to find the lost talent, in an attempt to let the people in poorer countries make money in their home town. Without needing to make the peerless journey to Europe to find a job. It’s called www.art2u2.com

6.) Would you rather work for a big corporation or would you rather stay independent? Why or why not?

Honestly I have never worked for one in my life, so I cannot tell you if I would like to work for a large corporation. I have worked with many large companies in the world.

7.) How do you think the internet and social media affected the creative industry and how artists are able to market themselves?

Before we just did business in our respective areas, now with the Internet, people can reach everywhere. Internet is like life, it can make you or it can break you. I would love to go viral, but I do not know how to do that. Anyway I think its only workable in the USA. The viral thing.

8.) Social media is obviously an extremely important element in today’s world, especially when it comes to business, branding, marketing, etc. With that being said, do you think an artist will be able to survive in today’s economy if they’re not social media savvy?

He would need to be extremely lucky, without social media.

9.) Artists who try to create art for the general public and make more money are usually seen as “sell-outs.” Do you see it that way and if so, what do you plan to do to make sure your art stays true to your brand and make a good living at the same time without having to “sell out”?

Honestly, investing in people like you to get the word out there about my passion art and creating. Also you need to remember the one biggest motivation in the world is money. So lets share it. I need a good representative, to move my art forwards.

10.) Professionally, where do you see yourself 5 to 10 years from now?

I’m not looking that far ahead.
