My name is Donta Darone Moore, mononymously known as Sinseerly Tay. I am a Christian rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and executive. I was born in the city of St. Louis, MO where I experienced troubled times growing up but was raised to know GOD as a child by my mother Veronica Jones. My faith in GOD has always stuck with me throughout my teen years and into my adult years. I began expressing my love for GOD and what I had been through in my music as a way to worship and release my story. My mission is to get the gospel out to the world and with the help of GOD change lives.
I am currently a devoted husband to my wonderful wife Brittany Moore and a dedicated father to 5 beautiful children. We have 3 girls and 2 boys whom we cherish with our lives. My family also plays a very important role in pushing me forward with my music career and supporting me in all that I do.

1.) What elements and/or characteristics made you say to yourself that you wanted to do music for a living? Who are your influences/heroes/role models?

The elements/characteristics that made me want to do music for a living would be the fact that I have the ability to make a beat myself that I can vibe too and be able to put together the words that allows me to express exactly what I am feeling into a song. I have always been influenced by Jesus Christ first and foremost. As far as musical artist, I have been influenced by Flame, Lecrae, J-Son and Sevin just to name a few of the very talented Christian rappers who I have enjoyed over the years.

2.) If you could compare yourself to an already established artist, who would that be and why? If you don’t like to compare yourself, then music-wise, what separates you from other musicians?

Music-Wise what I would say separates me from other artists is that I believe I am a unique, original artist. I wouldn’t really compare myself to other artists because I have my own style and my own story to tell.

3.) Everyone in life goes through adversity of some sort. Is there anything in your life that has any influence on the kind of songs you write? What is the most difficult thing you’ve had to endure on your path to becoming a musician?

The biggest influence that I have in the kind of songs that I choose to write roots from the experiences I have been through in my life as an adolescent into adulthood. It all starts from the schools that I have been too, I had to deal with a lot of gang related issues as well as fights etc. I also grew up in a very bad neighborhood in which there were times I could have lost my life just from walking down the street or sitting on the porch. GOD has brought me out of a lot of situations that could have gone wrong but that was not his plan for me. HE made me the man and artist I am today. What I have witnessed and been through in my life has given me the passion to want to express it through my music while also worshipping the lord and spreading the gospel.

4.) How do you prepare yourself to write certain songs? What is your song-writing and recording process?

In order to prepare myself to write songs, I mediate in the word of GOD and I make sure that I am in a quiet thinking space so that my thoughts can come together and my lyrics will began to flow. I truly believe GOD blessed me with the talent of being lyrical and being able to record myself along with mixing and mastering my own music so that it can be heard well by others and in hopes to bless someone.

5.) Unfortunately the music industry is full of talented individuals who just don’t get any recognition for their talent and/or hard work. What do you plan to do to make sure you stand out and get noticed? Would you rather be on a major label or would you rather stay independent? Why or why not? In regards to the music industry itself, do you think that the traditional music industry model as we know it is dead?

In order to make myself noticed in the music industry, I plan to continue to promote my songs and videos so that they can be heard and seen amongst a broader audience. I will release my content on a continuous basis for my fans to be able to enjoy often. I would prefer to stay as an independent artist so that my work will always be original and unique based upon how I would personally like for it to be released to the world. I don’t believe the music industry is dead, to me music is very powerful and a lot can be learned and reciprocated through lyrics itself.

6.) Are you able to make a living with your music? If so, how were you able to attain a career doing what you love? If not, what do you do in order to fund your music career? What advice would give to someone who’s interested in pursuing a career in music?

I am currently working on my music career part time and I also have a steady job that allows me to take care of my family as well as put funding towards promoting my music. The advice I would give to someone who would like to pursue a music career would be to just work hard and stay dedicated to what you love, and if you have the passion for it just strive to be the best you can be. Never give up on your talent and push forward in getting your music heard, felt and seen.

7.) How do you think the internet and social media affected the music industry and how musicians are able to market themselves? Social media is obviously an extremely important element in today’s world, especially when it comes to business, branding, marketing, etc. With that being said, do you think an artist will be able to survive in today’s music industry if they’re not social media savvy?

I think social media definitely plays a big part in being a platform for the music industry to be able to display and promote music through marketing, advertising and show casing it to the viewers. However if social media were not an option for artist, there would still be ways to promote music, it would just have to be more hard work and dedication done to spread the word and get the music out to the people. We would have to go back to more hands on techniques- such as posters being hung up in popular places and using funds for promotion through billboards etc.. But I believe whole heartedly that where there is a will, there is a way.

8.) Artists who try to make music for the general public and make more money are usually seen as “sell-outs.” Do you see it that way and if so, what do you plan to do to make sure your music stays true to your brand and make a good living at the same time without having to “sell out”?

I plan on making sure my music stays true to my brand because I want to make sure I am maintaining a pure, sincere and heartfelt purpose through my songs. I don’t think of it as selling out if you are being original, honest and transparent at all times in all that you do.

9.) Professionally, where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

5 years from now, I see myself being more known to the world as a Christian artist. I plan on being more established in the music industry in hopes that my work will be able to continue to reach many eyes and ears so that it can make a difference in my listeners lives and please GOD as well as myself.
