Adrian Alphanso Crooks a.k.a. (King Lorde) was born in Kingston, Jamaica on May 8, 1989. At the age of 3 years old he migrated to St. James with his parents and siblings. King Lorde attended the Adelphi Primary and Albion All Age Schools after which he migrated to the USA. With his motto being “labour for learning before you grow old,” King Lorde was determined to make education his #1 priority. He enrolled in Weaver High School in Connecticut where he received his diploma in high school education. Having been exposed to music at a tender age, his passion for music became more intensified as he chose to take music to a higher level. He attended talent shows across the community of Hartford. Eager to flaunt his skills, his brilliant ideas led him to start writing songs and in 2012 he recorded his first single “If A War.” It was produced by MARIO CHEEF Production. King Lorde also recorded tracks for major producer, Delly Ranks. With Ranks, he scored his first hit single titled “Don’t Talk Certain Things.” In 2015 King Lorde released his mixtape titled “The King Has Risen,” which sold over 2,000 copies. King Lorde began to take his career to the next level by working hard and voicing new tunes in the studio getting booked and performing at Reggae festivals on a routine basis. His philosophy is “all things shall perish from under the sky, music alone shall live, never shall die.” King Lorde’s ambition is to make music his #1 choice.

1.) What made you want to get into the music business in the first place? Did anyone influence you to do music? If so, who? Influences? Role Models?
Music is and always has been my passion from birth. From the first time I could understand music at a tender age I loved it. Yes, everyone around me influenced me to do music. I’m talking about people, places, and things, etc.
2.) Unfortunately the music industry is full of talented individuals who just don’t get any recognition for their talent and/or work. What do you plan to do to make sure you stand out and get noticed?
I plan to do different music. My style, my products and label will all be different.
3.) Would you rather be on a major label or would you rather stay independent? Why or why not?
I’d rather be on a major label because I am pushing other artists and writers as well.
4.) Do you think that the traditional music industry model as we know it is dead? Why or why not?
Yes because modern improvements such as technology are taking over the music industry today.
5.) How do you think the internet and social media affected the music industry and how musicians are able to market themselves?
It brings a level playing field for all artists to market their own music and get exposure without the big labels.
6.) What is the most difficult thing you’ve had to endure in life and has that had any effect on your path to becoming a musician?
Yes, the resources to get the music out the right way and the right industry and ears needed to listen to the music.
7.) Artists who try to make music for the general public and make more money are usually seen as “sell-outs.” Do you see it that way and if so, what do you plan to do to make sure you make music that is true to your brand and make a good living at the same time without having to “sell out”?
No, I don’t see it as selling out. You have to do what the fans request and what is trending at the moment.
8.) When you do music, what would you like your listeners to get out of your music?
The message, the vibes, and the energy within the music.
