1.) What made you want to get into the music business in the first place? Did anyone influence you to do music? If so, who? Influences? Role Models?
From childhood onwards, I was listening to Malayalam film songs over the radio and it inspired me and even surprised me, how a song is created from scratch. The curiosity increased when I started listening to film songs of Great Musician Salil Chowdhury. His malayalam film songs were almost super hits in Kerala, India among malayalees. When I was studying in college for graduation my nickname was Music Director, due to singing in class with even included vocal orchestration.

Things changed when my workplace shifted to Trivandrum, where I went to learn the keyboard. Started creating melodies in Carnatic Raagas. An experiment with Hindolam graduated to a full song with orchestral elements and it became a finished song with voice of famous singer G. Venugopal. It was well appreciated and it gave further strength to me to continue creating other songs.

So my influential guru was Salil Chowdhury. But can’t avoid few names like G. Devarajan, Johnson Master and Raveendran who enriched all Keralites with their music in popular films. All these masters were my role models.
2.) Unfortunately the music industry is full of talented individuals who just don’t get any recognition for their talent and/or work. What do you plan to do to make sure you stand out and get noticed?
I prefer to publish my work only through YouTube, as it is the best platform for an upcoming music enthusiast. Once published minimal Facebook and Whatsapp are used to share the content among friends and other enthusiasts.

3.) Would you rather be on a major label or would you rather stay independent? Why or why not?

  1. Being an enthusiastic creator, I like to stay independent with my new creations….
4.) Do you think that the traditional music industry model as we know it is dead? Why or why not?

Traditional music industry is dead. Only with online tools, one can publish their talent nowadays.

5.) How do you think the internet and social media affected the music industry and how musicians are able to market themselves?

Self marketing is possible using the internet, but an essential portfolio is required for a musician to showcase his/her talent through their Youtube channel, etc.

6.) What is the most difficult thing you’ve had to endure in life and has that had any effect on your path to becoming a musician?

It was my dream to learn the keyboard with certification but never achieved, instead diverted to use it for song composing with self-learning.

7.) Artists who try to make music for the general public and make more money are usually seen as “sell-outs.” Do you see it that way and if so, what do you plan to do to make sure you make music that is true to your brand and make a good living at the same time without having to “sell out”?

My profession is eGovernance in government. Music is my passion. So selling music is not my concern. It is only for my satisfaction and it surges when it satisfies other listeners.

8.) When you do music, what would you like your listeners to get out of your music?

Cinematic orchestration styles are used for my songs according to the style of the song. If it is devotional like this, traditional instruments are used to suit the song.
