IXP Music Album Victory Review

In the highly saturated music industry, there are no shortages of singers. But when it comes to the rap genre, there seems to be a dearth of rappers with quality because only a few names come to mind. It is especially obvious when you start picking names of chart-toppers and busters, focusing on Florida. Rick Ross, Kodak Black, Plies, and a few others quickly come to mind. And you’re left wondering if anything else good in hip-pop can come from The Sunshine State, considering the quality coming out elsewhere from the East and West coast of the country. Do new rappers even stand a chance? That is exactly what I thought when iXP came out his latest album ‘Victory.’

The Florida-based rapper, iXP, is a capable rapper for his lyrical and sonic creativity. But, like most other new rappers, iXP lacks the exposure needed to make it to the top. However, that could change with this album.

iXPs Victory Album in Perspective

The Victory album is a ten-track collection of emotionally charged songs with renditions fiercely put together. The rapper elicits different moods and topics, leaving listeners with hypnotizing sounds and a lasting impression.

The album kicks off with the song Journey, a fast, flowing, and energetic rap infusion of the hood grove and typical urban rap theme that makes you feel like you’re listening to Eminem afresh in his prime. Here, the rapper talks about telling his story and the quest to keep to his journey toward victory. Despite the pace at which iXP raps on this track, his vocals are clear and you can easily pick out most of what he is saying, unlike most of the mumble-grumble rappers that have sadly become the bane of the industry today. This song is dope and great for an opener.

On This is Hip-HopiXP infused the same energy and fast flow on his delivery, but with an extra finesse to the overall grit. Doin My Own Thang showcases the singer’s desire to make things happen against the odds. You can feel the sonic beat on that Eminem-like flow but with added depth and extra grit to the rhymes and thematic expression. As the “cameras keep flashing” and the “cash keeps getting” into his closet, iXP “is making things happen.”

On Lay You Down, the beat was more relaxed, with Holly Monroe’s iconic vocals adding gold to the typical R&B rhythm that characterizes the song. “I dont want to waste time…I will pull up on you if you pull upon me” are some of the catchy lyrical vibes that underscore the intimate nature of this track. Got Dat Fiya featuring CEO and Dread Beats accelerated things with intriguing beats and mind-hooking reverbs that enchant the song as it progresses. ‘I Got Da Vibe for ya” is one of the hottest lines in the album. The hooks are captivating and the lyrical rendition introduces iXP as a master of lyrics. This is one of the best tracks on the album.

Lovely starts with a cool downbeat tempo heralding somber adlibs, but with that same dynamic, adrenaline-inducing rap flow. The bars are memorable and you can feel that iXP’s breathy vocals all through. On My Story, “not everybody has the same life, or been through the same shit,” iXP snarls. It is a song expressing the uniqueness of one’s life and destiny through the rise and falls they experience. It’s a great piece. Stand-Up Moment of Silence sees iXP breathing the same emotionally charged vocals on the back of a minimal kick-accelerated beat devoid of any corniness. Here, the rapper assesses the damage done by violence and the coronavirus to many lives across the world that was lost and harmed.

21 Freestyle takes its turn with a step-in-the mood style flow and rhyme. “I gat blood on my dick from the intercourse…” paints a picture of the dark and uncompromising posture of the track. Fact To Face showcases iXP’s ability to adapt at every turn, seamlessly stepping into a slow tempo vibe where he expresses his emotions for the woman of his dreams. Yet, he never loses that puzzling, adrenaline-filled and mesmerizing lyrical fluidity.

Overall, the Victory album should put iXP in the limelight – Get him more recognition and fame, and certainly not one that should be underrated either.
