Some people call it ‘power pop’, ‘pop rock’, or ‘alt rock’ but whatever it is, it’s what has been flowing in their veins since they can remember. Growing up in the suburbs of Boston and moving to NYC in 2012, Chris spent two years in the mod rock scene where he met drummer and Lettertrain collaborator, Julien Budrino.
Together, they recruited Anthony Bernier and Martin Stubbs which resulted in a unique blend of all of their musical backgrounds into what can only be labeled as ‘pure rock n’ roll’.
Indiscriminate Chatter is the sonically powerful 3 track EP from the rock band, Chris Paine & The Lettertrain. You get 3 tracks of alternative rock music that has a rebellious energy blended with a pop-friendly sensibility to it. This is an EP that can make hardcore rock fans and enthusiasts proud while being appealing and warm enough to welcome fans of the pop music realm. Chris Paine, Julien Budrino, Anthony Bernier and Martin Stubbs have all joined forces to create a rock band that is not only reminiscent of some of the top rock bands of the 80’s and 90’s but a group that is very much modern and unique when it comes to their music. Not only is the sound strong, but the content is as well. This was evident on the first song, “Might Have Found Me” played. Chris has the singing voice of a country singer but the strength of a hardcore rock singer. Speaking of country, the track “Down On Luck” has a certain type of sound that would lend itself well to being considered a contemporary country/folk song. The way the guitar and drums were played on “Time” was well done and executed in a way where you can feel entrenched in the song. Indiscriminate Chatter is an EP that is straight-to-the-point and concise yet encompasses a brand of rock music that is uniquely energy-driven and expressive.
