We are a brand new band from London formed in the summer of 2020. We have released our first song on Nov 17th and are looking to increase our listeners and fanbase.

All the members have been in the other music entities over the last 20 years but never in a rock band. The members have been working in non music jobs all this time to pay the bills! This is their first and last attempt at trying to make a living from music!

This song is the first single of five that will be released over the next few months, with an album release in mid 2021.

This song is about pheromones – the invisible aromas that we can’t smell, detect or notice, but seem to affect our lives considerably.

Our first song was recorded at ICP Studios in Brussels – easily the biggest studio complex in the country.

The song was mastered by the LEGENDARY multi grammy award winner Howie Weinberg – he mastered our favourite album “Nevermind” by Nirvana…

Here are “some” of his credits – take you pick on what amazing artists he has done!

1.) What elements and/or characteristics made you say to yourself that you wanted to do music for a living? Who are your influences/heroes/role models?

Actually this is our first time being in a band… we only formed it in the Summer of 2020 and started writing and jamming remotely because of Covid. So we are really new to the music business, with no previous experience in music!

We grew up on Metal and US Rock bands like Metallica and Motley Crue and others… we also loved the Scorpions! Then Nirvana came out and we really loved that… but we’re into anything that’s got that musical energy and freshness that you sometimes can’t explain.

2.) If you could compare yourself to an already established artist, who would that be and why? If you don’t like to compare yourself, then music-wise, what separates you from other musicians?

It’s hard to put us in a genre – we are definitely Rock, but what type is hard to define. Some songs are classic rock influenced like our first song, but others are heavier and more grungy – we even have a R&B style rock song (if that’s even possible!!!!).

3.) Everyone in life goes through adversity of some sort. Is there anything in your life that has any influence on the kind of songs you write? What is the most difficult thing you’ve had to endure on your path to becoming a musician?

Our songs are talking about observations in life – the first song is a good example – talking about pheromones and how they affect our lives without us realizing it. This trend of observational stories runs through all of the songs we have written… in a way trying to reflect on the listener that they may be related to these themes explored in the songs.

4.) How do you prepare yourself to write certain songs? What is your song-writing and recording process?

Songs have always started with the music – initially jams and messing around and recording them… then you come back to these rough recordings and notice a riff or a lick, and realize something is special in there. We take these pieces and try to expand on them until we have a musical piece we can work with. Then much later we try to think of a theme which would be suitable to the music, and add the words and stories. I think this is the way we find it most comfortable to write with, however, there are exceptions where we have some lyrics and we write the music around that too, but it’s rarer this way.

5.) Unfortunately the music industry is full of talented individuals who just don’t get any recognition for their talent and/or hard work. What do you plan to do to make sure you stand out and get noticed? Would you rather be on a major label or would you rather stay independent? Why or why not? In regards to the music industry itself, do you think that the traditional music industry model as we know it is dead?

Yes – thousands of talented people out there! No question. It is a struggle – trying to get that “Activation energy” where your music starts getting noticed and gains momentum all by itself. But this is a very rare thing to happen. We just try to do what everyone else is doing with the Internet, radio stations and magazines – but for new, unheard talent, this is always going to be a challenge to get your foot through the door.

We do think the historic model has changed considerably, especially in the making of music – but there is a place for major labels in the modern scene, as they still have the clout to get your music to where it needs to be… so we are still open to some type of relationship with a major label, but not under traditional business models.

6.) Are you able to make a living with your music? If so, how were you able to attain a career doing what you love? If not, what do you do in order to fund your music career? What advice would give to someone who’s interested in pursuing a career in music?

We are sooooo new to this… and we have not made any money yet! One released song after a few weeks… unless it’s a mega hit, it’s not gonna happen! We hope that we can release some more singles and then drop the album in Autumn 2021 and by then we have a bunch of fans that may want to buy it! Until then we have bills to pay… so we all have other jobs to allow us to sustain our lives! We can’t give advise… actually we need that advice!!!! Help!!!!!

7.) How do you think the internet and social media affected the music industry and how musicians are able to market themselves? Social media is obviously an extremely important element in today’s world, especially when it comes to business, branding, marketing, etc. With that being said, do you think an artist will be able to survive in today’s music industry if they’re not social media savvy?

If you are signed to a Label then you don’t need to care… but if you are on your own, then it is essential to take advantage of it in every way you can… and this is where you do need to be savvy. We are learning so many new things in this whole area, but there is still so much more to pick up and execute before we can consider ourselves savvy!

8.) Artists who try to make music for the general public and make more money are usually seen as “sell-outs.” Do you see it that way and if so, what do you plan to do to make sure your music stays true to your brand and make a good living at the same time without having to “sell out”?

We find that so much of modern successful music is based on cheesy stale music that is so predictable and uninspiring… but if it makes money then good luck to them. There is still a place where you can make amazing music and also be successful – Nirvana is a perfect example of that, and this is what we are also trying to do. We won’t be selling out for sure!

9.) What trends do you see staying or going?

More social media – more options to empower individuals – more controls over your destiny… as time goes by, the classic record company power continues to diminish. Whatever they can offer to an artist can now be achieved without them. However, this means more work on your shoulders as you have got to do everything yourself.

10.) With so many people online who are expressing their opinions on any and everything under the sun, how do you know when to take something as constructive criticism or when to see it as trolling?

My observation is that what you do or make, be it music or chocolate cakes… even if it is the best chocolate cake ever made, there will always be someone who is going to hate it and troll it like it was a big poopoo! We try to ignore the trolls and not let them get to you – and try to accept and appreciate the opinions of legitimate criticism, even when it is savagely honest and truthful. Take it on and move along!

11.) If you were to advise an up and coming musician on how to get more fans, what advice would you give them?

I think you would need to build a team of marketers to deal with the massive challenge of promotion across the various social media platforms – making videos, posting articles, contacting radio, magazine, playlist decision makers are just some of the many tasks that need to be addressed… either you do it yourself, or with the people around you, or you have to pay someone to get these things done. To succeed, even with great music – you need marketing manpower and resources.

12.) There are multiple ways of attaining fans and building up your fan base, so what are some ways you acquire fans?

For us, we are spending hard earned cash focused in certain areas of promotion. One, is getting our song onto as many rock Spotify playlists as we can. Two, is using Facebook and Google advertising to direct new customers to our Spotify song. Three, is using the Fiverr website to create blogs, reviews of our song on various platforms. Four, we are contacting as many rock radio stations as we can find! So far this has brought us some moderate progress, but we are still carrying on and continuing to push our first song. Once we are done, we shall move to recording and releasing our second song!

13.) Professionally, where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

Who knows – probably peeling potatoes in a canteen somewhere… and that’s if the music worked out!!!!
