Champagne Attitude 20 Tracks Review

  1. I’ve Been Expecting You (interlude)

Well, you don’t expect much from an interlude. Except for the radio-like static signals in the background, there is nothing much worthy to take home from this track. But when you hear something “thank you for coming, I’ve been expecting you,” then you should be looking out for something on the next track.

  1. I’m The One You Need

This is where things truly get started. The track hits up with a solid funky dance fusion style. This is the track that saw the sympathizers going for a sweeping approach. The beat is typical pop style rhythm, and the reverb didn’t disappoint at all. With words like “baby I’m falling for you,” you know this is a typical long song coming from a ‘lustful soul.’ Well, who doesn’t lust these days? The up-tempo mix of pop and resounding R&B jam defines a sultry vocalized love episode.

  1. The Greatest Love

What better way can one open an introductory chapter to love than such a romantic prelude? Here AMARU creates his own persona of love and romance – one that is emphatically distinct from those of previous pop singers. You can use this interlude and tell someone; “like a distant star, you shine, I see you.”

  1. The One

This is a tantalizing neo-soul confession of love that flows from a combination of spoken words and harmonies. The hyperactivity works wonders on this cool yet electrifying glistening cool music. This track is the runaway highlight of the entire album. The One is the type of song you can sing with your loved one while sunbathing or just chilling out at the beach. Everything about this song is just fine and tasty to play over and over again.

  1. Gentle Giant

Here, AMARU takes us into the mix of the “Gentle Giant,” a song that flows on the wavelength of a retro sound. The song is something emotional with the struggles of a man’s life – paying tribute to the survival instinct of growing up in the midst of the odds. It also evokes survivability and perseverance through the auspices of empowerment while rallying whatever minds and ears that are listening to rise up against bullying. You can call this track the starting point at which AMARU enters “the reality stage” of music. Gentle Giant is one of the best tracks on this album.

  1. Champagne Attitude

Here is the track that should ‘set AMARU up’ for jealousy among other pop and rock singers in the music industry. Usually, I don’t like people who ‘cross the line’ by thinking too much of themselves or think way too highly about themselves in everything. Such behaviors and egocentric views are frankly not right, and AMARU was right to have called it “champagne attitude,” because such people tend to look down on others while striving for self-importance. AMARU’s voice was like a piecing hammer on this track, holding nothing back as he voiced his displeasure in this amazing pop mixed with rock, vocal style of play. Every lover of pop should love this piece. The track is dope.

  1. The Absence of Your Presence (interlude)

Another bell-sound loaded introduction to the next track “Independence Day.” That aside, there is nothing here to cherish.

  1. Independence Day

As the name implies, Independence Day was an onslaught on the feeling of discontent. In this track, AMARU voiced his desire to feel free and liberated from every form of discontentment. The song also talked about the need to take responsibility while also ensuring equality plays a major role in ones’ everyday living. AMARU also opined his feeling of guilt and pain for not having had the luxurious opportunity to grow up under a father. We can agree that some of us share this same feeling. The track starts off on a high pop note with a mixture of R&B resonance making up a powerful and yet emotional song for the lonely soul.

  1. Pa’ Mi Gente

Well, this is the track defines the versatility of AMARU. Although I didn’t get to hear any single word since it was done in Spanish, I must confess I enjoyed the strong calypso vibes and crashing cymbals that reign in the background. Pa’ Mi Gente means “for my people,” and it’s a dedication to the Latino culture. If you want to dance your troubles away for awhile, just get into this ‘dance -dance’ salsa led groove and stay optimized for the time being.

  1. That’s The Way I Like It

If you love Reggae Music, then you probably love Bob Marley–the legendary Jamaican Reggae superstar of blessed memory. This track is a dedication to Bob Marley and his beloved country, Jamaica. But the real message of this track is making the decision to live your own kind of life without taking too much thought about what people are saying about you. I think I like this song. The beat and cracking bands are just of the typical reggae music. Nothing bad.

  1. Abundant Place (interlude)

What I really like about music is the message it sends out there in line with the happenings in society, and that is what AMARU has done by this track. ‘Abundant Place’ is truly a reminder of what we are facing every day in our present world. The track starts with a beeping sound which represents the beating heart of a dying man under emergency and life support. The sound of gunshots and a police siren blaring in the background, amidst the wailing of a distressed woman, shows just how corrupt, envious, criminally inclined and troublesome our world has become. Everything in this track speaks the truth the way Jesus commanded it to be done. However, the laughter of a child entails there is still some glimmer of hope ahead.

  1. Tell Me

Well, personally, I didn’t like this track at first, but after a few more listens, it grew on me. You have got to love it for the dance infusing beat spearheaded by the darbuka and the Indian sitar mixed up with some cool western instruments to provide a compelling groove up-tempo jam. ‘Tell Me’ is a song talking about social issues like finding solutions, and it includes a bit of rap as well. Do you have something to say to me? Ask yourself!

  1. Low On The Dough

This starts off on a very high dancing note with screeching, seething sounds and fast-paced instrumentals projecting the best western musical vibes. When you have an empty wallet, you will understand better what it takes to run low on the dough. But what happens when adultery, greed, and materialism becomes the order of the day? Well, that’s what this fast dance track is talking about.

  1. Clearly (interlude)

Yeah. The way you see things today will not be the way you see them tomorrow. Wisdom and Knowledge is a transcending phenomenon. They come with time.

  1. Never

You and I never knew what life had in store for us, otherwise, no one would be losing love, time, a friendship that can never be replaced. This track is a ballad and it reminds me of my late sister, and how I felt empty inside after her demise. Life is indeed, an uncertain future, and the heartfelt and honest lyrics used here by AMARU are so touching. It was actually a song dedicated to his grandmother. But now, I’m dedicating it to my lovely late sister of blessed memory.

Rest in Peace, Mamus…

  1. I Got The Blues

This is yet another super ballad that has a touch of blues on the reverb and soul-like music rocking on the wavelength of the guitar instruments. The song is about the unexpected scenario where trust and wishful thinking can all end up in disappointment. Just when you think you’ve found love, the sky came crashing on your head as your supposed lover turns you down for another–leaving you feeling like an infatuated fool. How painful could that be? Think about it.

  1. Bye Bye

Why should someone with half a brain keep a relationship that is toxic and frozen? That is what Bye Bye is talking about. If your love isn’t working out for you, move on and stop trying like an idiot, especially when you have been warned and advised many times by friends. AMARU kills this off with an exquisite beat and superb witty wordplay of comparisons. It couldn’t have been much better.

  1. Messiah

With parts of the lyrics running like “why don’t you stand up your feet,” you know we are talking about a motivational song that inspires everyone to grow up and strive on on your own, in spite of the odds. You don’t have to rely on others before moving out of your comfort zone for better ventures. This song is a medium-fast pace pop song/ the instrumentation does the job perfectly and the vocals are dope as well.

  1. Joystick

“You can bring your X-box and I will bring my joystick.” Here is a song loaded with sexual bragado. Love-making is an underlying theme in this track, but what really caught my attention is the fast pace Rap and R&B combination utilized by AMARU. This dude is a wizard when it comes down to changing styles and blends. This one blends well like a chameleon, and I think is one of the best songs on this album, especially with such electrifying vibe yet clear vocals as such you can hear every single word he altered.

Good one there, AMARU.

  1. Pa’ Mi Gente (Remix)

A remix of the original Pa’ Mi Gente, but with a more softer salsa vibe. What a way to round up an outstanding album.

No doubt, AMARU rocks, and I see no reason why Champagne Attitude shouldn’t be a success.
