Introduction

For a man dedicated to having his songs touch millions of hearts, Gemini George is an incredible Armenia-born, American based guitarist and songwriter whose guitar skills defies logic in a unique sense.

Inspired by the first sight of Elvis on TV, Gemini George has gone on to write songs and a lot of musical compilations since when he was just 17. His classical expertise as a guitarist is aptly defined by the amazing techniques and incredible control over notes while strumming on hits.

The way Gemini controls the flow of melody and with his resounding soul-piercing ethereal vocals, even the most adamant of the cosmic elements that rules the divide between Asia and Eastern Europe where lies Armenia, will nod in appreciation.

George regards feelings as the driving force of the musical process, and as such, he does not allow genres to dictate the outcome of his songwriting. This awesome sense of reason is very much visible in his latest released singles, Pretty Yell and Full Foolish Moon. The two singles comprise a mixture of exquisite rock ‘n’ roll in the alternate sense, acoustic folk rhythm and a super driven garage rock melody.

Below is a detailed review of each single

  1. Pretty Yell

From the onset when this song started playing, you know you’re listening to a typical rock ‘n’ roll song. However, there is a slight difference in this particular track. The frenzy is a bit distorted from the down-to-earth and extreme rock ‘n’ roll jam of the 80’s. But it also makes up for that in its full length of nervous guitar treat to the audience. George’s rock ‘n’ roll credibility was more informed by his singing danced-based forays which seem to segment the guitar and band flow into hood ornamentation while George’s elastic and strong reverb voice is left to command the dancing rhythm of its audience. The occasional shout of “Pretty Yell” tells a story of why certain folks doubt the ability of others to make it against all odds. Of course, “everybody knows it’s a beautiful sound….., yeah, and if Jesus can do it for the world, why can’t you do it to someone else?” It’s a Pretty Yell, an obvious one for that matter.

If you love rock ‘n’ roll music, this will definitely appeal to you.

  1. Full Foolish Moon

Honestly, I don’t know how a full moon can be foolish (talk about creativity and pun), but this is the track where Gemini George slays with the guitar. The song reminds me of the good, old days, back in the 70’s. Full Foolish Moon is a song that compels addiction from the very beginning you hear that mesmerizing strumming of George’s guitar, which I call “the Gemini George effect”. How this son of Armenia can create such amazing rhythm from a guitar is beyond me. To say this song is captivating is, to say the least. It is the reason people on YouTube are now calling on him to release an album.

The song is a full, blown blues-driven melody with soul catchy and calming effect at the same time. The song comes with possessive lyrics that are loaded with lots of lovely personification. It’s a love song, but it’s also one that carries a deep sense of help in the middle of an uncertain hour of need. Gemini George’s commanding voice on those outcry vocals is enough to melt any rebellious heart of love and passion. This is the type of song lovers love to play in the coolness of day, especially while relaxing on a hammock staring out at the equally bewildered moon who should by now been wondering how come it’s so foolish. Let her ask George for the answers.

The video on the Full Foolish Moon single is even more thrilling, seeing George walking aimlessly, probably in search of his ‘foolish full moon,’ which appears to be on a vacation to Armenia. As at the time of writing this review, the video has gained over 360 likes without a single down vote in just barely two months of uploading it. No doubt, this is such a remarkable feat for a creative musician just entering into the musical limelight.

Gemini George is currently working on his first album tagged “Gems,” which promises to be explosive, from what we have seen so far. Keep tabs on that.
